Draft Comprehensive Plan Update

The Comprehensive Plan Update process began in September 2013 with a Town - Wide visioning process called Vision for Bristol.  Click here for a copy of the report.

Following the Town-wide visioning, a 51-member Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee worked with the Planning Board and staff from the Department of Community Development to put forth a draft which was completed in September/October 2014.
This Draft Comprehensive Plan Update was presented to the Town Council and Planning Board for approval on September 30, 2014.  The Town Council also re-examined the Economic Development Element and approved it on October 29, 2014.

The Rhode Island Department of Administration - Division of Planning reviewed the full draft and provided comments and suggestions on the draft document.   Click here for a copy of the comments.

The Department of Community Development, working with the consultants VHB and Main Street GIS, edited the draft to address the State's comments.  Click here for a copy of how each comment was responded to.
