Historic Flood Awareness Signage

The hurricane of 1938 was described as a "gale of unusual strength" that the people of Bristol "had never experienced in this section of the country in our lifetime."  Read a full account of the 1939 Hurricane and its aftermath, published by the Bristol Phoenix on September 23, 1938.

The Town of Bristol received a grant from the RI Emergency Management Agency and FEMA to design and install signs depicting historic flood events and make the public aware of potential danger areas during storms.
