On 7/1/2015 the Town of Bristol implemented the community notification system know as CodeRED, a rapid emergency notification system designed to deliver critical communications that alerts citizens about crucial life safety-related information.

CodeRED utilizes a unique mapping capability that allows for the geographic targeting of calls, coupled with a high speed telephone calling system capable of delivering customized pre-recorded emergency messages directly to a recipient whose phone number is registered within CodeRED’s phone number database.   This database supports sending message notifications to landline and mobile phones, as well as text messages and email, and also allows preferences to be set by recipients.

“This emergency notification system enables the Town of Bristol to quickly provide essential information to the public in a variety of situations, such as evacuation notices, severe weather alerts, boil water notices, and Missing children,” the Rhode Island Emergency Management Director Peter Gaynor said.  “The CodeRED system will provide us with the ability to quickly deliver messages to targeted areas or the entire state, depending on the severity and extent of an emergency or disaster, at no cost to those who receive the messages.”

To receive emergency notifications via phone call, text, or email from state or local authorities signup now on the Town of Bristol’s website and click on the CodeRED link above.

Please be advised that the NEW short code will start on December 13th

CodeRED by OnSolve is committed to providing ongoing excellence in emergency notification services. As a part of our continuous effort to upgrade our technology, CodeRED is making a change to our short code.

What is a short code?
A short five or six digit number sequence that is displayed on the recipient’s phone when they receive a CodeRED message. These codes are designed to be easy to read and remember, allowing your residents to save the number into their address book.

What does this mean to me?
CodeRED SMS text messages and Weather Warning messages will be coming from a different short code (number). The messages will still be delivered in the same, reliable way. There is no action required on your part except to notify your recipient population of this change. This will be a seamless, automatic update for all clients and all accounts.

Key Takeaways:

  • New Short Code Number: 76993
  • Be sure to notify your recipient population, so they are aware, and can program the new code into their devices
  • All other aspects of your service remain the same

We are always working hard to offer an outstanding service, and we thank you for letting us serve your community!
